RANCHO SAN DIEGO — Cuyamaca College, champions of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference ,opener the CCCAA state playoffs last week… but not many people knew it.

The Coyotes (14-3-2 overall) played their first postseason ciontest against PCAC rival Palomar, winning 2-1 to extend the shcool’s winning streak to 10 straight games.

Many thought the contest was just another conference outing, and since Cuyamaca clinched the PCAC crown more than two weeks ago, many were looking for a non-confference opponent.

Nevertheless, Cuyacama played (and won), advancing to the CCCAA South region second round against another conference champion in sevtnh-seeded Santa Monica on Saturday (Nov. 23). Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

The Corsairs (17-2-3), undefeated champions of the Western State Conference South Division, are riding an 11-game winning streak.

The Cuyamaca-Santa Monica winner will probably meet No. 2-seed Mt. San Antonio in the third round.
