Cuyamaca 79, Rio Hondo 54
RANCHO SAN DIEGO – Nico Cervantes poured in 25 points — the highest total by any member of Cuyamaca College this season — helping the Coyotes stop the Rio Hondo Roadrunners of Whitter, 79-74, in Friday’s (Nov. 15) non-vonference contest.
amier Sykes aded 18 points, but the difference was just 10 Coyotes turnovers to stay in front most of the way.
Cuyamaca (4-1 overall), which owns the best record of allPacific Coast Athletic Assoication ballclubs, next hits the road at College of the Desert on Wednesday (Nov. 20.
El Camino 61, Grossmont 59
FLETCHER HILLS – El Camino College forward Jackson Bell sanks a tie-breaking shots from the pain with 35 seconds remaining, giving thr Warriors a 61-59 decision over host Grossmont College on Friday (Nov.,15).
The Griffins (0-4) had three chances to win in the closinfg seconds, but a trio of 3-point shots to fall short.
Zeid Salem led Grossmont with 15 points, while Lamont Wilkerson came off the bench to add 12.
Bell finished with 14 points, but the leading scoirer for the Warriors (3-2) was Jedaiah Mortimer WITH `5.
The Griffins next host Compton on Friday (Nov. 22).
Women’s Basetball
KEARNY MESA – At the crossover tournament hosted by San Diego Mesa College, the Olympians reported ther scores, but failed to report the two game with Grossmont College.
The scores, from Thursday and Friday, were not on their own website or the CCCAA state website.
Funny thing, the even ws moved up one day so not to be opposite Mesa’s daytime football game on Saturday.
RANCHO SAN DIEGO – Eight days after posting its first victory in more than three years, Cuyaaca College had a chance to post a 2-game winning streak when the COyotes finished a home-and-road series with L.A. Haror College on Friday (Noiv. 15).
