Men’s Water Polo
Tuesday Update: CCCAA Playoffs
SARATOGA – Grossmont College received the No. 9 seed for the CCCAA Southern California regional, which is annual judged to be the toughest challenge to reach the state finals.
The Griffins (22-9) will open on the roqad at No. 8-seed Cypress (13-12) due to a slightly higher power rating despite a near .500 recdord. The contest os sated for Thursday (Nov. 4).
No matter whch school wins, the nexct contest is at top-seeded Golden West, which owns an astounding 31-4 record asnd are considered the best community college ballclub in the coiunrtry. The contest is slated for Friday (Nov. 15). The Rustlers are the seven-time defending California state champions.
All Southland regional games will be held at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.
Monday’s Story
CHULA VISTA – After Grossmont College breezed to the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship for the third straight sdeason, Palomar College jad only one way toadvance to the CCCAA state tournament — they needed towin the PCAC postseason tournament.
The Comets came close, but the Griffins preveiled.
Trailingt 9-8 after three periods, Grossmont out-scored Palomar, 4-1, in the final period to secure a 13-20 verdict.
The Comets tallied the first goal in the fourth for a 10-8 advance, buyt the rest of the contest went to Grossmont.
OPver the final five minutes, goals from Raul Rico (assist Harrison Eaton )and Miles Boone (unassisted) would tie the battle.
Then Grossmont took the lead on tallies by Xylen Rotsart (assist Jeffrey Roth) and Xylen Rotsart (unassisted) would win it.
On Friday in the semifinals, the Griffins swamps Southwestern, 25-9.
Grossmontmoved its record to 22-9; Palomar fell to 14-21.
Women’s Water Polo
CHULA VISTA – As of Monday evening (Nov.11), the PCAC Tournament championship game between Grossmontand regular-season champion San Diego Miramar in women’s water polo was not reported by touramenthost Southwestern. LINK:

RANCHO SAN DIEGO – What was slated to be the gameof the year to cap the regular season is now moot when Cuyamaca College hosts San DiegoCity on Tuesday (Nov. 12).
The Ciyites have akready clinched the Pacxific Coast AThletic Conference title with 19 points with a 9-1-1 conference mark.
The best the second-place Kights can gain is 18 points with a win.
Kickoff is at 3 p.m.
Women’s Soccer
DOWNTOWN S.D. – Entering this week’s fianl regular season contests, both Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges will both miss the CCCAA playoffs following disappointing seasons.
The Griffins will finish in seventh place with a victory or draw at San Diego City on Friday (Nov. 15).
The Coyotes capped winless season in 18 starts, will a season-long cleansheet with At least, Cuyamaca scored twice for the first time ythis season in Fruday’s (Nov. 8) 4-2 homeloss to Imperial Valley.
MiraCosta is assured at least a tie for first place with a 14-0-1 record,but Southwestern (13-1-1) could catch them with a win and a Spartans setback.
