Men’s Water Polo
FLETCHER HILLS – The Pacific Coast Athletic Conference champion Grossmont College Griffins winners of the crown for a third consecutive season, capped the regular season with a narrow 10-9 verdict over El Camino, a probable CCCAA state playiff opponent.
The Griffins also defeated a pair of ranked ballclubs in 19th-ranked Ventura (22-13), and 10th-ranked Chargers of Cypress (14-13 in overtime).
Grossmont (20-9 overall, 5-0 PCAC) will nextg compete in the PCACChampionships, slated for Southwestern College this Friday and Saturday.
The state playoff pairings will be announced on Sunday.
Men’s Soccer
RANCHO SAN DIEGO – Cuyamaca College clinched the championship of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference in men’s soccer following a 3-0 road shutout og Southwestern on Friday (Oct. 25).
The Coyotyes (12-4-2 overall, 9-1-1 PCAC) now have 19 points with one match remaining, meeting secondf-place San Diego City. How
ver, even if the Knights win their last two games (Cuyamaca has a bye), the most points City can earn in 18.
In defeating Southwestern, the Coyotes’ Gerardo Ambriz egistered a goal and an assist.
Diego Esquivel and Esteban Salais also tallied goals. while goalie Broward Maryan needed to stop just one Jaguars shot to post the shutout victory.
Ambriz erased the cleansheet with a goal in the 73rd minute. The rest came in the final minutes with SWC pressing in a failed attempt to pull even.
Women’s Water Polo
FLETCHER HILLS – After meeting in the Pacific Coast Athledtic Conference opneer, San Diego Miramar College took down Grossmont College, 15-7, on Oct. 9.
And the standings didn’t change over the balance of the sdeason.
Thus, the Griffins completed the regular season with a 3-1 PCAC mark (13-8)overall, capped by a 16-4 rout of Southwestern.
grossmont nexdt plays in the PCAC Championships, also at Southwestern, facing third-place Palomar on Friday. The title game is Saturday, then the CCCAA state playoff pairings will be announced.
Women’s Volleyball
FLETCHER HILLS – While top-ranked San Diego Mesa took the PCAC title with a perfect 14-0 mark with two matches remaining, the battle for second place is far from over.
The hottest team in the second round of PCAC play was Palomar, which went 6-1 to forge a three-way tie for second with Grossmont and MiraCosta.
However, the Griffins hold the inside edge, closing the season with last-place Cuyamaca on Friday at The G-House, then next Wednesday with San Diego City, also at home.
Both matches start at 6 p.m.

Cross Country
SACRAMENTO -In the official CCCAA state rankings, CuyamacaCollege is ranked 12th in California among the men, while San Diego Mesa dropped from No. 1 to secondbehind Mt. San Antonio.
The Mesa women remain on top in the state, followed by Mt. SAC, then College of the Canyons and Allen Hancock of Santa Maria. POLLS
