FLETCHER HILLS — In Wednesdays’s (Jan., 31) second game of a two-game series, Saddleback College out-lasted Grossmont College,m 16-13. The Griffins fel to 0-4 overall.

MISSION VIEJO — Saddleback College third baseman J.C. All;en opened the season with three homers in a single game,including the game-winning, 2-run shot in the ninth inning in a victory over College of the Canyons.
Thus, Grossmont College was extremely careful in pitching to the slugger, who went 0-for-2 with two walks in Tuesday’s (Jan.30) ballgame with the Bobcats.
As for the rest of the Saddleback lineup, the Griffins had their problems.
The balance of the Saddleback batting order saw evry hitter (except one) collect a hit, topped by a 4-RBI outing by right fielder James Derflinger, leading the host Bobcats to an 11-non-conference wipe-out over Grossmont (0-3 overall). BOXSCORE
The ballclubs will complete their two-game series Wednesday (Jan. 31) in Fletcher Hills.

LINK The Saddleback baseball team improved to 2-1 with an 11-0 win against Grossmont College on Tuesday on the baseball diamond. The Bobcats scored eight times in the first two innings in the win.
Saddleback was coming off a disappointing loss on Saturday and the Bobcat faithful wondered how the mostly freshman lineup would respond. The Cats growled loud, blasting Grossmont and shaking off any disappointment still lingering from the weekend.
Saddleback scored eight times in the opening two innings, opening up a big lead on a Grossmont squad looking for their first win of the season. The big blow was a three-run homer from freshman James Derflinger (pictured) to give the Bobcats an 8-0 advantage in the second inning.
Saddleback started Damon Anderson Wolf on the mound and the freshman from Aliso Niguel High School kept the Griffins silent through five innings. Anderson Wolf had three strikeouts while allowing four hits in winning his first collegiate start.
Saddleback turned to a bullpen duo of Min Joon Cho and Kamden Cisneros, who kept the Griffins silent over the final four innings. Saddleback pitchers allowed seven hits while striking out five.
Jacob Hudson had a big day at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with one run-scored. Ten different Saddleback players his safely in the game, with Derflinger finishing 1-for-2 with four RBI on the afternoon.
Saddleback is now 2-1 on the season following the win. The Bobcats will travel to Grossmont College tomorrow for a 1:00 PM start in El Cajon.
Game Notes: Saddleback’s shutout was the first since shutting out El Camino College (3-0) in the second round of the playoffs last spring.
