SAN DIEGO – Tested by travel and two young teams looking to make a statement in the MASL, the San Diego Sockers made a statement of their own: there’s still plenty of life left in these veteran legs.
Kraig Chiles and Cesar Cerda each netted a pair of goals and the San Diego Sockers held down the Empire Strykers 7-3 on Sunday night at Pechanga Arena, improving to 4-0 on the season. San Diego completed a grueling weekend sweep that began with a Saturday night 8-7 win in Dallas, and involved a day of travel heading into Sunday’s match. Angry with seven goals conceded on Saturday, the Sockers shut out Empire for the first, second, and fourth quarters. MORE

BUFFALO, N.Y. – We couldn’t spoil the celebration this time Seals fans. The Seals’ offensive performance kicked off impressively in the first half when Austin Staats scored a goal just one minute into the game. Wes Berg joined the party as he flew in for a power play goal followed by a beautiful behind the back shot that became an instant candidate for SportsCenter’s Top 10.
The Seals put up a strong effort to bounce back from a three-goal streak by Buffalo in the third quarter, but a combination of penalties and unsuccessful shots prevented their comeback. Curtis Dickson & Austin Staats split two goals apiece tonight as Dane Dobbie and Jake Govett netted one each. MORE
