ECS staff report
FLETCHER HILLS – The Grossmont College women’s volleyball team, which has dominated the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference for more than a decade, seeks to clinch yet another crown tonight when they host San Diego Mesa at 6 p.m.
The Griffins (20-1 overall, 12-0 PCAC) seeks to extend their winning streak to 14 straight. The lone loss was a 5-set thriller at Mt. San Antonio before the current string of victories is stretching to near-school record proportions.
Meanwhile, Mesa (21-1 overall) is also state-ranked, resting in second place at 11-1.
The leading player for Grossmont is former Christian High standout Kate Beezer, who earlier this season was the California state Player of the Week.
An outside hitter, Beezer, a5-foot-10 transfer from Chico State, ranks among the state leader in kills, yet is also a force on defense in digs.
