2023 EAST COUNTY PREP FOOTBALL
HELIX 35, MADISON 19
The Helix Highlanders have established themselves as one of the top four teams in the county.
Helix joined the Open Division picture by thrashing Madison, 53-19, on the road on Friday night.
Helix improved to 4-0 and joined fellow Grossmont Valley League contender Granite Hills as two of the top four teams currently by most accounts.
Jackson Daniels had two touchdown receptions for Helix, including a grab to put the Highlanders up 18-13 with 49 seconds left in the first half. Daniels leads the Highlanders with four touchdown receptions this season.
Kevin Allen III rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns for the Highlanders. Allen has rushed for over 500 yards this season and has six rushing touchdowns.
Jordan Gash had a 30-yard touchdown return on a fumble return for Helix.
Helix will be at Cathedral Catholic next week., while Madison has a bye next week before traveling to Granite Hills on Sept. 22 at 7 p.m
No. 3 GRANITE HILLS 35, EASTLAKE 7 – Granite Hills improved to 3-0 with the win at Eastlake.
Zach Benitez threw for 119 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for a touchdown.
Max Turner scored two touchdowns for the Eagles.
Isaiah Jackson had a rushing touchdown for Granite Hills.
Turner and Jackson both have rushed for three touchdowns this season.
Nokoi Maddox led the Eagles with 10 tackles.
Damarrion White forced a fumble for Granite Hills, which was recovered by junior Kuba Polak.
