DEL CERRO – Patrick Henry scattered ten hits as they would go on to beat the University Centurions 6-0 in City Western League action on Tuesday (May 2).
Emily Hanna, who drew the start for Patrick Henry, really handcuffed the University City Centurions offense, as she only allowed five hits and no runs over seven innings.
Offensively, the Patriots staked an early lead, thanks to Izzy Ervin, who drove in a pair of runs with a double to left field, scoring both Jenna Mallari and Brooke Taylor in the first inning. The Patriots’ other run would come on an RBI single by Audrey Purvis.
Leading 3-0, the Patriots would tally another run in the third inning and in both the fifth and sixth innings to round out their scoring.
Both Ervin and Purvis led with two RBI each and Rachel Earner had the other RBI.
Patrick Henry as a whole scattered ten hits, with Taylor and Purvis each having two on the day.
Grace Cowman would be saddled with the loss for the Centurions, allowing five runs on eight hits over five innings of work. Isabel Delgadillo came in and tossed an inning of relief, in which she gave up a run on two hits.
University City with the loss has now dropped five games in a row; their record stands at 4-18 overall and 1-6 in City Western play.
Patrick Henry has now upped their winning streak to four in a row and improved their overall record to 13-9-1 and 6-1 in the City Western League to keep themselves tied for first place with Cathedral Catholic.
