Seals dominate Calgary,
seize control of West lead
SAN DIEGO – The Calgary Roughnecks had one final opportunity to challenge the Sean Diego Seals for the West Division lead in National Lacrosse League action.

That chance lasted less than a half.
On Friday (Mar. 31), the Seals exploded for five first-quarter goals and took a 8-3 choke-hold of a halftime lead, corralling Calgary, 14-8. The triumph, held on “Lucha Libre” Night at Pechange Arena, clinched a playoff berth for the Seals.
The Seals (11-3 overall) now own a 1.5-game lead for the Roughnecks (9-6) as the regular-season schedule winds down. San Diego visits fourth-place Colordo Mammoth (7-7) on Saturday. READ MORE.

Sockers carry 10-game win streak
into MASL Ron Newman Playoffs
SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Sockers clinched the overall No. 1 seed to the Major Arena Soccer League playoffs for a shot at a third consecutive Ron Newman Cup title after sweeping a pair of home games over the weekend at Pechanga Arena.
The Sockers dismantled the Milwaukee Wave, 11-5, on Friday, then edged the Tacoma Stars, 5-4 in overtime, on Sunday. The Sockers (22-2 overall) are riding a 10-game winning streak; they haven’t lost since mid-February.
Milwauekee broke fast to a 2-0 lead then San Diego romped the rest of the night including a hat trick by forward Tavoy Morgan. READ MORE

MISSION VALLEY – In the highest-scoring conterst of the season, the San Diego Legion took down Old Glory D.C., 48-26 in rugby action at Snapdragon Stadium on Sunday (Apr. 2).
Old Glory DC hrld lead of 7-0, 14-7 and 17-12, then were weashed away by the Legion.

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Gulls announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed left wing Connor Hvidston to an Amateur Tryout contract. He was with the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League.
On Saturday, the Gulls were road winners at the Iowa Wild, 4-2. Sunday’s result from Des Moines, Iowa,was not yet reported.
