KENT, Wash. – Following what the club admits was its “worst performance in years” which brought an end to their league-record 30-game winning streak, the two-time defending MASL champion San Diego Sockers bounced back on Saturday (Feb. 11), Behind the excellence of goalkeeper Boris Pardo, The all-MASL performer stopped six of the seven shots in faced in the fourth quarter, allowing the Sockers to rally past the Tacoma Stars,, 6-3, at ShoWare Center.
The triumph came off the heels of an embarrassing 10-4 thrashing from the Empire Strykers of Ontario, Calif., lifting San Diego (11-1, 32 points) back into first place in the MASL Western Conference.
Brandon Escoto, Tavoy Morgan, Charlie Gonzalez and Brian Farber all netted goals as San Diego built a 4-1 lead before hanging on for dear life in a second half that saw Tacoma press for a potential tie. Seals Lacrosse
SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Seals host the Saskatchewan Rush back at home on Fri., February 17. The much anticipated game will be aired nationally on ESPN2, as well as streamed on ESPN+.
The Seals currently sit at the top of the rankings in the West Division, with the best record in the league at 6-1 and have been undefeated at home so far in the 2022-23 season.
The former 7 pm PT start time has been changed to 7:30 pm PT.

Season Opener & DJ Z-Trip
SAN DIEGO -The San Diego Legion professional rugby team announced that DJ Z-TRIP will be performing at a post-game show at the club’s home opener this Saturday (Feb. 18) at Snapdragon Stadium.
.DJ Z-Trip, recipient of the “America’s Best DJ Award” will perform following the Legion’s match with the Utah Warriors.

Gulls hockey
SAN DIEGO – Rocco Grimaldi delivered the game-winning goal in overtime, sending the San Diego Gulls past the expansion Coachella Valley Firebirds of Palm Springs, 2-1, in American Hockey League at Pechanga Arena.
The Firebirds are the AHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken.
The win snaps a five-game losing streak for San Diego and nets the Gulls their first franchise win over the AHL’s newest team. It marks just the second time they played after regulation this season, and the first on home ice.
Pavol Regenda also scored in regulation for San Diego, who received a stellar 35-save performance from Lukas Dostal in the win. READ MORE

CARLSBAD – After World teamTennis was halted mid-season due to COVID-19, the league took two seasons off. The league originally announced it would return in this summer with new teams, but we have yet to hear from them.
The Aviators,which play out of the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa, were WTT champions in 2016, then finished second in 2017 — both times against the Orange County Breakers of Newport Beach, based at the Palisades Tennis Club.
