The exciting, back-and-forth contest saw the Coyotes (0-4-1) grab on an early lead as Robert Somerville (Santana) tallied the first of his two goals on the afternoon,, only to watch the Roadrunners (3-2-2) battle back,
COD freshman goal keeper Luis Lucio (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) had his hands full early as the Coyotes took an early 1-0 lead in the 6th minute.
Desert would tie the game in the 43rd minute on a goal from sophomore forward Vasilios Syrengelas (El Centro Central) who nailed a free kick from about 25 yards out to tie the game at 1-1.
In the 75th minute, the Roadrunners took a short-lived lead on a penalty kick conversion from freshman forward Jose Calderon, Jr. ( Desert Mirage).
