EL CAJON — Consolation and sub-division finals from Thursday (Apr. 14) to conclude the 71st annual Lions Tournament.
Monte Vista 4, Imperial 3
SPRING VALLEY — Monte Vista catcher Niko Heidt boomed an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning, the capper of three straight hits to walk-off on the Imperial Tigers, 4-3.
After Imperial scored inthe top of the inning to extend the ballgame, the Monarchs’ Izmael Ocampo and Justyn Stone posted consecutive leadoff singles. Heidt followed with his drive to left field.
Heidt, Ocampo and Tyler Lemen registered two hits each for Monte Vista (7-13 overall). Lemen added a triple.
Imperial got even late by loading the bases without a basehit, then Andrew Hendrixx stole home with two down. Right fielder Matthew Wiewel posted two of the three hits by the Tigers (6-13-1).
Steele Canyon 12, Scripps Ranch 2
RANCHO SAN DIEGO — Steele Canyon senior Ray Marreroo drove in five runs and was the winning ptcher, as Steele Canyon leaped to a 10-2 lead through three innings to to down the Scripps Ranch Falsons.
Marreno struck ut for Falcons batters in his five innings, then David McIntyre fired two innings of 1-hit, shutout ball.
At the plate, Morreno capped the early barrage with a 2-run homer in the third inning, alos scoring Tommy Molina.
Nate Custeau also drove in a pair of runs for Steele Canyon (12-7 overall).
Scfripps Ranch (8-9) saw DH Liam Hunter fo 2-for-2 with a walk.
Patrick Henry 5, Point Loma 3
POINT LOMA — Patrick Henry senior Ryan Ellis drove in three runs, including a 2-run, tie-breaking home run in the seventh inning, pacing the Patriots past the Point Loma Pointers (5-11-1).
Ellis batted 3-for-4, making a winner of sophomore pitcher Eddy Gomez for Patrick Henry (12-4).
