EL CAJON (3-10-22) – Despite being outhit the home team Granite Hills Eagles were able to put Our Lady Of Peace Pilots away early on and come away with a 7-1 victory on Thursday afternoon in non-league action.
The Eagles in the first inning would take an early 1-0 lead when Audrey Smale (1-3, R, RBI, 2B, 2 SB) hit a ball that was misplayed allowing Chantelle Gonzalez (RUN) to score.
They would add another run in the bottom of the second inning when Kaleigh Baugher (1-3, R, RBI, HR) belted a lead-off solo homer over the center-field fence.
Granite would extend their lead in the bottom of the third inning when Sofia Mujica (2-3, 2R, 2 RBI, 2 HR) would launch the first of her two home runs on the day. Mujicas’ first shot was a lead-off solo home run over the right-field fence to make it 3-0
A couple of innings later Mujica would hit her second homer of the contest which was a two-out blast over the center-field fence, a couple of batters later an RBI double by Smale would give them a 5-1 lead, and that was followed by Taylor Rose (1-3, RBI) driving in Smale to extend the lead to 6-1.
The final run for the Eagles came in the bottom of the sixth inning with two outs when Chloe Knepp (1-3, RBI) lined a base hit to center field to bring in Kamryn Flath (1-3, R).
Rose would pick up the win for the Eagles as she allowed nine hits and one run over seven innings of work, striking out four and walking none.
