POINT LOMA ( 2-4-2022 ) — What a debut for a former slugger and catcher for the Steele Canyon Cougars.
Even his former head coach Jesse Evans decided to head out to catch some hardball at Point Loma Nazarene University. Not only did the young freshman catch both games of the doubleheader behind the dish, but he also had himself a heck of a debut swinging a mean stick.
Jake Entrekin went 4-for-9, going yard once, with five RBI against Cal State San Bernardino.
“ Yeah, super exciting day today. I was able to hit my first college homer, which was super cool. We don’t have much scouting on pitchers this early on, so just going off what you can and what your teammates can tell you. Catching the bulk of the doubleheader was a challenge for sure. The staff was dominant today though so nothing crazy. As far as the homer was concerned, I don’t know how far it was hit but it was hit to right-center,” said Entrekin.
Entrekin came back and caught the next two games against the Yotes on Saturday, as well, as the Sea Lions took all four games.
