SAN DIEGO — The Patrick Henry Patriots defeated the Christian High Patriots, 59-53, in a non-league game on Wednesday.
Patrick Perez scored 19 points for Christian. He also had seven rebounds, three steals, and a pair of blocked shots.
Ben Felice made two of Christian’s four three-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Mini Mesghenna had eight points for Christian, while also grabbing five boards, and handed out three assists.
But it was Lorenzo Hernandez, of Patrick Henry, who had a three-point barrage in the third quarter. He made three of his five treys in the third.
Hernandez scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half.
The score was tied 15-all after the first period, then Henry led 25-24 at halftime.
It was Hernandez that helped Henry take a nine-point lead into the fourth.
Patrick Henry improved to 7-7 on the season.
MOUNT MIGUEL 63, SWEETWATER 60 – The Mount Miguel Matadors knocked off the Foothills Christian Knights by holding off a late threat on Wednesday night to take a 63-60 decision at the Sweetwater Christmas Tournament.
The Matadors and Knights were knotted at 8-all after the first quarter, but Mount Miguel led 25-15 at halftime.
The Matadors led by 11 entering the fourth quarter.
Junior Isiah Thomas led Mount Miguel with 18 points. He also knocked down a pair of threes and blocked two shots.
Senior Jayson Brown added 17 points for the Matadors, including making a trio of three-pointers.
Sophomore Mekhi Sydney finished with 13 points and six steals for MMHS.
Sophomore Vincent Jones made a pair of threes for the Matadors.
Mount Miguel improved to 4-8 on the season, while the Knights fell to 1-10.
No. 4 CATHEDRAL CATHOLIC 64, HELIX 50 – The fourth-ranked Dons disposed of the Highlanders despite a pair of three-pointers by Markees Williams, of Helix.
Helix fell to 5-7, while the Dons improved to 10-3.
