Steele Canyon’s Arthur Simpson led the Cougars with 19 points, six rebounds, and six steals.
The Cougars’ Alex Jenkins, a junior, added 18 points and seven rebounds.
Steele’s Camrien Hunt finished with 17 points and six rebounds.
Cougar senior Angel Raposa had a pair of three-pointers on the way to eight points.
Steele Canyon fell to 2-3 overall, while VC improved to 2-2.
HOOVER 70, HELIX 60 – Helix led 13-7 after one quarter, but the Highlanders and Hoover were tied at 30-all in the Orange Bracket semifinals at halftime of the Madison Warhawks Rumble.
Hoover took a 52-50 lead into the fourth quarter.
Hoover opened up a 58-50 lead with 6:22 left, then had a 61-54 lead with 4:49 to go after converting three free throws following a foul on a shot attempt.
CATHEDRAL CATHOLIC 62, GROSSMONT 39 — The Foothillers fell to the undefeated Dons after trailing 37-13 at halftime.
It was the first loss of the season for Grossmont in three starts.
Cathedral improved to 4-0.
MARANATHA CHRISTIAN 66, MOUNT MIGUEL 43 — The Eagles took down the Matadors, who fell to 2-1 on the season.

ST. AUGUSTINE 77, HELIX 40 – The Highlanders, who kept it close for much of the first half, were no match for the Saints in the second half at the Madison Rumble.
Markees Williams made a three-pointer late in the first quarter to cut the Saints’ lead to 21-13.
Williams then hit a three at the first-quarter buzzer as Helix trailed 21-16.
Helix’s John Everett made a three-pointer with just over four minutes left in the second quarter as Helix trailed 32-22.
Williams canned a three in the third quarter but the Highlanders trailed 55-33.
Williams hit a three in the fourth but the Saints still led 68-38.
HILLTOP 70, EL CAJON VALLEY 67 (OT) – The Lancers won on a three-pointer by Damian Monge at the buzzer in overtime at the Madison Warhawks Rumble event.
The Braves led 34-26 at halftime but the Lancers outscored the Braves 22-14 in the fourth quarter to send the game into OT tied at 64-all.
