#5 DEL NORTE 8, #1 HELIX 1
LA MESA – The bats for the Del Norte Nighthawks continued their hot streak on Thursday (June 17) as they pounded out sixteen hits in their big victory to force an if-necessary game against the top-seeded Helix Highlanders.
Helix would early on score a run in the bottom of the first inning when Audrey Kull scored on a Nighthawk error to make it 1-0.
But Del Norte came right back in the top of the second by scoring a run off of Highlanders starter Sophia Ramuno to tie the game at 1-1.
Del Norte would take the lead when Jessica Phelps doubled in a run and she would come into score on a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1.
They would later add three runs in the sixth inning thanks to Elaina Esteban, Phelps, and Alison Zorn who all drove in runs.
On the other side for the Highlanders, Audrey Kull had a pair of hits as well as scored a run, Nicole Hernandez, Angel Riggins, Ramuno, and Jio Nuanez all had hits.
Helix with the loss falls to 25-5 while the Nighthawks improve to 18-13 and with the win, force a second playback, winner-take-all contest for a spot in the Division II championship game.

Both Andrea Gonzalez and Abby Johnston had the lone hits for the Norsemen on the day.
