LAKESIDE – El Capitan senior Mackenzie Curtis was unstoppable going up against the Madison Warhawks on Thursday night.
Curtis matched her career-high by scoring 42 points on 15-of-34 field goal attempts and 4-of-5 from the foul line as the Lady Vaqueros won, 69-27.
Curtis made 8-of-17 shots from three-point territory. She also had 10 rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
It was the third time in her career that the scoring champion has hit that high-water mark.
Sophomore Kaylee Cole contributed nine points, nine steals, and five assists for El Capitan (13-6).
Vaquero senior Emma Driskill added seven points and blocked five shots.
Freshman Amaya Tone finished with six points, seven steals, and six assists for El Cap.
MOUNT MIGUEL 67, RAMONA 17 – On Wednesday, the Matadors suffocated the Bulldogs on the road as junior Danay Williams-Pope led the way with 18 points for Mount Miguel.
Williams-Pope continued to step up here scoring production in the absence of the team’s leading scorer, who remains sidelined.
Williams-Pope also grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked five shots.
Senior Arantxa Fonseca added 12 points and six steals. for Las Matadoras.
Junior Nataly Bravo came home with 11 points for Mt. Miguel, knocking home a trio of three-pointers.
Sophomore Ixchel Rojo contributed 10 points for the Matadors and handed out eight assists while making five steals.
ESCONDIDO CHARTER 57, FOOTHILLS CHRISTIAN 31 – Senior Carolina Burke led the Knights with 18 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 steals on Wednesday.
OUR LADY OF PEACE 50, LIBERTY CHARTER 40 – The Lions trailed by just four at halftime, but the Pilots outscored Liberty, 14-4, in the third quarter.
Izzy Woodhams had a field goal in the first quarter which gave the Lions an early 9-8 advantage, their only lead of the game.
Katie Peet had a field goal in the second quarter to tie the game at 23-all.
Kellan Hayden had a three-pointer in the first quarter for Liberty Charter (10-6).
VICTORY CHRISTIAN 55, STEELE CANYON 40 – The Cougars fell to 2-7 overall with the road loss at Victory Christian.
MOUNTAIN EMPIRE 45, O’FARRELL 39 – The RedHawks won their first Manzanita League game of the season on Thursday.
Mountain Empire improved to 2-3 overall.
