PATRICK HENRY 5 (6-3), BONITA VISTA 2 (2-7)
DEL CERRO (4-12-21) – It was another outstanding pitching performance for the Patriots as Ryan Ellis allowed only one hit on the day in the victory over the Barons on Monday afternoon.
Early on the Baron would take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an error by the Patriots.
Patrick Henry would tie the game up in the bottom of the second inning on a Nolan Kluge (1-3, RBI, SB) base hit to right field that allowed Eddie Gomez (2-2, 2R, RBI) to score.
With the momentum in their favor heading into the bottom of the third inning the Patriots continued it as Jake Lowery (3-4, R, SB) led off with a base hit, Ellis followed with a walk, Andrew Guana (RUN) would load the bases after being hit by a pitch.
The next batter Gomez would take advantage as he would drive in Lowery, Brady Hull (2-2, RBI) followed with a base hit to score Ellis and Jack Giordano (1-3, 2 RBI, 2B) would finish things off with a two run double to right field.
Bonita Vista would add another run in the top of the fourth inning to pull within 5-2 but that would be as close as they would get as Ellis and Guana would shut them down the rest of the way.
Picking up the win for the Patriots was Ellis as he only allowed a pair of runs while walking 3 and striking out 2 on the day while Guana would garner the save as he worked an inning in which he walked 1 and struck out 1.
With the victory the Patriots have now won five games in a row and will pick things up on the road next week on April fourteenth when they take on San Ysidro in tournament action.
