SANTEE – THe West Hills Wolf Pack moved to 3-0 on the season with a 59-42 win over the visiting El Cajon Valley Braves on Tuesday.
Kyle Dobyns, who missed the last game due to his starting pitching assignment for the baseball team, led the way with 22 points for the Wolf Pack.
Dobyns’ athletic future looks to be as a hurler but he is just as much of a menace to the opposition on the basketball court at the high school level.
Dobyns combined with Luke Gibson for 15 points in the fourth quarter for the Wolf Pack in this one. Gibson finished with 11 points for the game.
Brendan Greene added 10 points for the Wolf Pack.
El Cajon Valley led 9-8 at the end of the first quarter but the Wolf Pack led 25-19 at halftime.
West Hills extended the lead to 28-27 at the end of three quartes.
Sophomore Mujahid Rivera scored 20 points to lead the Braves, while teammate Quaylin Bryant added 13 points. Both are sophomores. Rivera also had 10 rebounds.
STEELE CANYON 76, EL CAPITAN 74 – Six-foot-3 Cam Hunt scored 29 points as the Cougars improved to 2-0 for new head coach Aaron Douglas.
R.J. Lugtu led El Capitan with 22 points, while teammate Daisean Desinor added 21 points.
GROSSMONT 64, MONTE VISTA 58 – New Grossmont head coach Jacob Ober earned his first career varsity head coaching win at Grossmont, which made its season debut.
Grossmont led 20-11 at the end of the first quarter, then extended the lead to 37-26 by halftime. The Foothillers outscored the Monarchs, 15-11, in the third quarter.
LIBERTY CHARTER 62, GRANITE HILLS 57 – An historic win of sorts for the Lions, knocking off the Eagles in El Cajon.
Liberty improved to 4-0, while the Eagles fell to 1-1.
MISSION BAY 70, HELIX 54 – The Highlanders fell to 1-3, as the host Bucs were making their season debut.
Angelo Gil led Mission Bay with 24 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while teammate Kris Gonzalez came up big, as well, with 23 points, and six rebounds.
