EL CAPITAN 9, POINT LOMA 3 – Olivia Martinez hit a two-run homer and Ava Gall drove in three runs as El Capitan downed the Pointers.
Hailey Mulligan had two hits, drove in two runs and scored three times for the Vaqueros.
Alexa Williams pitched three innings, allowing one unearned run for El Capitan. She struck out three.
Brooke Horn earned the win for the Vaqueros.
Gall had a two-run double in the third to help El Cap take the early lead.
PATRICK HENRY 6, GRANITE HILLS 4 (6 inn.) – Eagle freshman Jenna Haynal had a three-run triple to tie the game at 3-all in the top of the second inning.
Brooke Bertussi had a hit and scored two runs for Granite Hills.
Kaiah Altmeyer had three hits, including a solo home run for Henry, which gave the Pats a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the second.
The Patriots’ Shayleen Chapman earned the win with a complete game, striking out 10.
MOUNTAIN EMPIRE 19, EL CAJON VALLEY 7 (5 inn.) – The RedHawks did enough damage with a nine-run first inning to defeat the visiting Braves in the season-opener for both teams.
SAN YSIDRO 23, MOUNT MIGUEL 6 – The Matadors lost for the first time in three starts, as the Cougars improved to 2-0.
