SPRING VALLEY – The Monte Vista Monarchs exploded for 30 second-quarter points on Thursday night to put away the visiting Valley Center Jaguars before halftime, 80-59.
Brandon Tully and Ivan Maynard combined for 22 points in the second quarter.
Tulley finished the game with 20 points, while Maynard had 15 points.
Tully had a pair of three-pointers in the contest, while Cameron McKan, who had 11 points, also knocked down a three-ball.
Three Monarchs – Marco Balhin, Deron Whitley and Niamiah Alston – each had six points.
“We just needed one to get back on track,” Monte Vista head coach Mike Tully said.
The Monarchs, who improved to 10-7, will travel to face Valhalla on Saturday.
“That should be a good game,” said the coach.
CALVIN CHRISTIAN 64, LIBERTY CHARTER 49 – The Crusaders dominated the first half to lead 35-17 at halftime.
The Lions fell to 4-9 overall.
