EL CAJON – Grossmont High senior quarterback Jaime Odom passed for four touchdowns and ran for two more as the Foothillers won their Grossmont Hills League opener with a 49-14 win over host Valhalla on Friday night.
Odom threw for 330 yards and rushed for 48 yards, accounting for six of the Hillers’ seven touchdowns.
Running back Jahmal Nevels added a 2-yard rushing touchdown for Grossmont (5-1).
Odom threw early touchdowns to Max Cadwalader, from 20 yards, and Chris Chrzan, from 19 yards
Odom had rushing touchdowns of 7 and 28 yards in the second quarter as Grossmont built a 28-0 lead.
Valhalla senior Kegan Baker scored a touchdown in the first half on a 1-yard run.
Senior running back Robert Tucker caught a 9-yard TD late in the first half for a 35-7 advantage. Tucker had 121 yards of total offense.
Senior receiver Brody Shicker, who finished with six receptions for 133 yards, caught a touchdown pass in the third quarter from Odom.
Caleb Smith had an interception for Grossmont.
Senior Caden Mata led the Hiller defense with six tackles, including five solo.
Junior Wes Fulton had three tackles for loss for Grossmont.
Axel Gonzalez wheeled home all seven of his point-after attempts for the Foothillers.
Valhalla’s Josh Meredith had five receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown reception, which came in the second half.
Valhalla senior Kaleti Lindsay led the team with 100 yards rushing on just eight carries.
Sophomore quarterback Tommy Logan was 6-for-7 for 52 yards for the Norsemen, who fell to 3-3.
