ORLANDO – The Christian High Patriots beat Juarez High School from Chicago 20-3 in 5 innings in at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex.
The Patriots won the contest via a run-rule.
The Patriots posted multiple runs in all five frames, capped by seven runs in the 5th inning, before the Eagles (5-6) from Illinois had to wave the white flag.
Pats pitchers Jared Eichhorst (win) and Andrew Carlock (saved) combined on a 3-hitter.
For Christian (9-14), Isaiah Owens homered, while Eric Markowicz, Braeden Ross and Matt Souza all tripled in a 20-hit attack. Owens and Ross each collected five RBI.
“We came to Florida to have fun and spend time as a team but we also have business to attend to,” Owens said. “I came off the bench looking to do damage and the pitcher missed his spots. We have two more games out here so I look forward to those games and the rest of the season. We are not out of the picture.”
SANTANA 12, STOCKDALE (Bakersfield) 2: At Clovis North HS, the Sultans tallied seven runs in the 1st, then four more in the 6th to walk-off the Mustangs (10-11) by run rule in their first of two games Tuesday (Apr. 16) at the Fresno Easter Tournament.
Sultans left fielder Cole Contreras knocked in five runs with a triple and a double, while second baseman Aidan Donovan added three hits to fuel a 13-hit attack.
Pitcher Riely Hamilton gained the win with 3.2 innings of shutout relief, allowing just three base hits.
CLOVIS NORTH 3, SANTANA 1: In the night game at Clovis North, the host Broncos (16-4), the second-ranked club in the CIF Central Section, limited the Sultans to six hits.
Nolan Inouye led Clovis North by batting 3-for-3 with a walk.
Santana’s lone run saw Aidan Donovan single home Tyler Fitzgerald (2 hits) to tie the game in the 4th.
