SAN DIMAS (2-24-2019) — San Diego Christian College saw all five starters score in double figures, leading the Hawks to a 79-70 triumph over host Life Pacific on Saturday (Feb. 23).
Derek Novsek led the quintet with 21 points, while Hayden Fredrick added 16. The others were Jared Nyvih (14), Nick Crankshaw (12) and Tristan Angelo (10). Life Pacific answered a game-opening Nyivh layin with 7 straight points, but the Hawks finally got even at 14-all on a Fredrick triple.
Later tied at 26-all, Novsek hit a pair of free throws and Crankshaw’s 3-pointer gave the Hawks a 31-26 lead with 3:43 remaining in the half. SDCC took a 40-37 lead into the halftime break.
The Warriors scored the first four points of the second half to regain a lead, 41-40. With 16:18 remaining, the Hawks gained the lead for good as Angelo’s jumper for a 47-46 advantage and a lead they would keep for the rest of the way, SDCC shot 46 percent from the floor but only 30 percent from beyond the arc.
The Hawks were dominant on the boards with a 49-32 rebounding advantage. The Hawks improved to 9-17 overall (5-12 GSAC). They conclude their season next Thursday at 9th-ranked Vanguard. University in Costa Mesa,

San Diego Christian 54, Hope International 50: The Hawks concluded a dreary season by whipping the host Warriors.
Kaitlyn McKinney led the Hawks with15 points and 9 rebounds. Erica McCarter added 12 points, while had 11.
San Diego Christian finishes at 8-22 overall. Life Pacific went 1-27. The Hawks game with Vanguard, then the top-ranked ballclub nationally in the NAIA, was played back in December.
