ESCONDIDO – The Foothills Christian Knights moved a step closer to an Ocean League title by defeating second-place Orange Glen, 65-43, on Friday night.
The Knights have a two-game lead and beat the Patriots on the road behind junior Ellie Turk’s 27 points, seven assists, seven steals, six rebounds, and four blocked shots.
Sophomore Arantxa Fonseca added 13 points, 13 rebounds, six steals, five assists, and seven blocked shots for Foothills Christian.
Foothills freshman Nataly Bravo contributed 15 points, two steals, and two blocked shots.
Senior Emyrose Ancho added five points, nine rebounds, and five steals for the Knights.
Sophomore Christie Sarkis finished with five points, six rebounds, and a couple of steals
“It was a tough game in the first quarter but we fought hard the whole game,” Sarkis said. “I kept telling myself what my coach told me, ‘play defense first then your shots will come,’ and that’s exactly what happened.”
