2018 SAN DIEGO CHRISTIAN COLLEGE HAWKS WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
East County Sports staff report
LA VERNE (12-30-2018) – The San Diego Christian College women’s basketball team completed a forgetful month of December with another loss, falling to the host Leopards, 71-60, at the University of La Verne Tournament.
The loss left the Hawks (6-9 overall) without a win in December over eight contests.
San Diego Christian actually held an 18-14 lead through one period, thanks to guard Shayleen Toehe, who scored 13 of her game-high 24 points in the first half.
For La Verne (7-4), guard Bailey Kurahashi collected a game-high 32 points, including 9 triples, while the Leopards kept control thanks to 25 offensive rebounds.
San Diego Christian opens January with another tough assignment, returning to Golden State Athletic Conference play on Thursday (Jan. 3) by hosting 21 Arizona Christian. Tipoff from Grossmont College is at 5:30 p.m. prior to the men’s contest between the two schools.
