Hawks impressive in first win of season

RIVERSIDE (11-9-2018) – The San Diego Christian College men’s basketball team collected their first victory of the season, downing host La Sierra University, 82-69, in a non-conference game Thursday (Nov. 8).
The Hawks backcourt tandem of Hayden Fredrick and Derek Novsek combined for 53 points, leveling the ballclub’s record to 1-1.
Fredrick (Laguna Niguel), a transfer from Fullerton College, tallied 27 points for SDCC, while Novsek (Reno, Nev.), a transfer from Rend Lake College of Illinois, added 26, helping the Hawks build a 38-31 halftime lead, increasing the lead to as many as 16 points in the second half.
Meanwhile, forward Nick Crankshaw (San Clemente), a transfer from Saddleback College, dominated the paint with 15 rebounds.
When the Hawks return from their current 7-game roads trip, these two teams will meet in the SDCC home opener, slated for Tue., Nov. 20, at Grossmont College. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
