SAN MARCOS (11-06-2018) – Palomar quarterback Connor Curry, who led the Comets to a 35-25 upset victory over Cerritos at Escondido High on Saturday evening, has been selected as Southern California Football Association National (State Playoff-Eligible) Division Offensive Player of the Week.
Curry, a red-shirt freshman from Evangel Christian High School in Shreveport, Louisiana who originally was offered by Clemson out of high school, accounted for six touchdowns in the Comets’ victory over the state No. 12-ranked Falcons.
Curry completed 24-of-37 passes for 360 yards and five touchdowns (with no interceptions) and added 50 yards rushing including a 1-yard TD run. He also set up a late field goal by Jacob Vose that put the icing on the cake in the victory by hitting Malachi Russell for a 41-yard pass completion.
His touchdown passes went for 58 yards to Russell, 21 yards to Logan Gamble, 33 yards to Mikel Barkley, 33 yards again to Barkley and 24 yards to Lamar Raboteau. He scored his rushing TD on a 1-yard run after Shevell Sterling set up the score with a 47-yard run.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Curry spent the 2017 season as a red-shirt at Division II national power Ouachia Baptist University.
