EL CAJON – Steele Canyon senior quarterback NATHAN BARNETT passed for two touchdowns in the first half to help the Cougars defeat Valhalla, 21-0, in a weather-shortened Grossmont Hills League game on Friday night.
Like many East County and other contests around the section, the teams could only play the first two quarters before the lightning arrived near southeastern El Cajon.
On Sunday, it was determined that all of the Grossmont Conference’s results that were not played to completion would stand as final.
Barnett completed just four passes but had a 55-yarder to junior CHRIS CARTER to open the scoring early.
After a 5-yard run by senior KENNETH WATSON later in the first, Barnett had a 5-yard score to MATTHEW MCGRANE.
Barnett had 94 yards passing in the first 24 minutes.
Valhalla’s KIARE WORTHY forced and recovered a fumble as a Cougar was nearing the goal line.
Steele Canyon (6-2, 2-1) will meet Grossmont next Friday.
Valhalla (0-8, 0-3) will face to El Capitan next Friday night in Lakeside.
