2018 EAST COUNTY PREP FOOTBALL
FOOTHILLS CHRISTIAN 50, VICTORY CHRISTIAN 8
EastCountySports.com staff report
EL CAJON – The 2018 Foothills Christian 8-man football roster showed a lot of promise heading into the school year.
With experienced players coming off a very successful season, head coach JOE MACKEY has his program positioned among the county’s elite.
And while the Knights are still looking to hurdle over their most difficult obstacles, FCHS was near flawless in the role of a considerable favorite on Friday night, disposing of Chula Vista-based Victory Christian, 50-8, at Seau Field.
Foothills junior DANIEL LYYJOKI scored the first touchdown of the game to make it 6-0. He added another touchdown later in the first half, amassing 60 yards on the ground before halftime.
Sophomore BLAKE MCINTYRE scored the Knights’ second touchdown. He had four receptions in the first half.
Knights quarterback TONY MROZ also scored a touchdown in the first half.
Junior KEVIN HELFERS had 33- and 25-yard rushes in the second half.
Senior JADON BANKHEAD and junior HUNTER NICKELL had touchdowns in the second half for the Knights.
FCHS will travel to San Marcos to face St. Joseph’s Academy (0-1) next Friday at 7.
