PALM BEACH COUNTY, Florida – The San Diego Hustle took the bronze medal at the USA Baseball 17U East National Team Championships, which concluded on Tuesday.
East County prep standouts BILLY TELLOUS (Steele Canyon), JONATHAN RAMIREZ (Steele Canyon), AUSTIN SCRIBNER (Valhalla), DANNY YANEZ (Grossmont) and TREVOR ELLIOTT (Mountain Empire) were part of the successful unit.
Elliott, who led the state of California in strikeouts this past season for the Pine Valley-based Red Hawks, picked up two pitching wins at the tournament.
The Hustle went 7-2 at the event, mashing their way to a 4-0 start by outscoring the opposition, 37-7.
Tellous has a pair of hits and the game-winning RBI in the win of the bronze medal game and was named a Player of the Day at the tourney.
