Three runs by the Vaqueros allows them to pull out the victory over the Helix Highlanders (16-15) for the third time this season.
El Capitan (18-10-1) pushed across a run in the bottom of the first inning taking advantage of a couple Helix errors as Madison Michalek-Rosales (2R) reached on an error and came into score on an Olivia Martinez bunt that was misplayed to make it 1-0.
The Vaqueros added to their slim lead in the bottom of the third inning Alexa Williams (2-3, 2R, RBI, HR) jacked her third homer of the season to give the Vaqueros a 2-0 lead.
Leading 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning the Vaqueros tacked on more starting with Madisyn Wieher (1-4, R) singling, Michalek-Rosales reached on an error which brought home Wieher to make it 3-0, Kim Garcia knocked in Michalek-Rosales on a groundball out, Williams followed with a single as did Bailey Olaveson (1-2) and Allyson Von Yokes (1-3, RBI) finished things off with a base hit bringing in Williams to give the Vaqueros a 5-0 lead.
Helix would finally get on the board in the top of the sixth inning with a leadoff single, a double and a couple batters later a groundout brought in a run to make it 5-1.
Despite giving up back-to-back singles with one out in the top of the seventh inning Kylie Mead retired the next two to end the game.
