EL CAPITAN 3, CLAIREMONT 2 (9 inn)
Some late heroics and a hold in the bottom of the ninth propel the Vaqueros to the one run victory over the Chieftains.
With the score tied at 1-1 the game went into extra innings and would be played under international tiebreaker rules where each team would receive a runner placed at second base to start.
With one out Alexa Williams roped a double off of Chieftains pitcher Maddy Jacobs which scored Kim Garcia to give the Vaqueros a 2-1 lead, Williams would score on a single by Kylie Mead to make it 3-1.
Clairemont in the bottom of the ninth would get a run back with a single to pull within 3-2 but Mead would settle down after giving up another single and retire the final two batters.
Earlier in the contest, the Vaqueros took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third when Katy Hicks who led off with a single would score on an error by the catcher. Both teams would go back and forth until the bottom of the fifth when Clairemont tied the game with a run.
For the Chieftains, Jacobs took the loss going 9 innings giving up 3 runs of which 2 were earned on 6 hits while walking 1 and striking out 8.
