The Vaqueros were able to strike first in the top of the first with 2 outs starting with Hannah Davis (RUN) being hit by a pitch, Alexa Williams drew a walk, Madison Michalek-Rosales came into run, Bailey Olaveson (2-4, RBI) roped a single which scored Davis to make it 1-0.
The big blow came in the top of the second inning for the Vaqueros as Kim Garcia (1-2, R, 2B) led off with a double to left field, she advanced to third on a wild pitch, Taylor North (RUN) laid down a bunt and would be safe as Garcia was held at third base, North would advance to second on a defensive indifference, Olivia Martinez (1-2, R, RBI) laced a single that scored Garcia to make it 2-0 and North advanced to third, another defensive indifference led to Martinez advancing to second. The next batter Katie Collier (1-2, 2 RBI, 3B) would drive in both North and Martinez on a line drive that went for a triple which extended the lead to 4-0.
Alexa Williams who pitched the first three innings only allowed a hit to the Lancers before she would be relieved by Kylie Mead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Vaqueros were looking for more in the top of the fourth as leadoff hitter Madisyn Wieher singled and Katie Hicks walked but both would be stranded.
Mead who came into relieve Williams retired the Lancers in order in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Still leading 4-0 the Vaqueros would score another run in the top of the fifth thanks to a lead single by Allyson Von Yokes (2-4, R, RBI) who would come around to score on a single by Brandy Taylor (1-2, RBI) making it 5-0. They added their final run in the top of the sixth to round out their scoring.
However, in the bottom of the seventh, the Lancers finally got on the board with a couple of runs thanks to a lead walk, single and a couple groundouts before Mead retired the final batter to end the game.
On the day Williams went 3 innings, giving up 0 runs on 1 hit while walking 3 and striking out 3. Mead came in to relieve and went 4 innings, giving up 2 runs which were earned on 3 hits while walking 1 and striking out 2.
