CHRISTIAN 10, LJCD 0 (6 INNINGS)
Once again the offense for the Christian Patriots came alive but it would take a couple of innings to do so.
The bats came alive in the top of the fourth as leadoff hitter Lauren Sherburne (1-2, R) singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch and would score to make it 1-0. Silent Rain Espinoza (3-4, 3R, SB) would get on and come around later to score to make it 2-0. The next batter Audrey Shebloski (1-3, R) singled but she would be caught stealing, Ashley Carter (2-3, 3R, SB, RBI) singled, Shannon McMahon (2-3, 2R, RBI) singled, both her and Carter would advance on a wild pitch and would eventually score to extend the lead to 4-0.
Moving to the top of the fifth with a four-run lead the Patriots again did some damage as again leadoff hitter Espinoza singled, and would eventually steal third base and come in to score on an error to make it 5-0. A couple batters later Carter walked and stole second and came around on a single by Mallory Steele (2-4, 3 RBI, SB) who stole second base. She would be stranded as the next couple batters were retired.
After five innings of play the Patriots led 6-0 and in the top of the sixth inning they added more to the board. With two outs, up stepped Espinoza who singled, went to second on an error, Shebloski was hit by a pitch, Carter singled in a run, McMahon singled in another and Steele had the big blow with a two-run single to round out the scoring 10-0.
