EL CAJON (2-23-2018) – Computer predictions failed once again as the double-digit win on behalf of the Christian High Patriots turned out to be the playoff thriller of the evening.
The visiting Pirates from Oceanside (16-14) came into the contest ranked No. 5 in the SDSCIF Division 2, as the host Patriots (20-8) were ranked No. 3 in the SDSCIF Division 2. This contest tonight was part of the Division 2 quarterfinals.
This contest on Friday night was part of the Division 2 quarterfinals.
The Christian High Patriots will move on after their 74-68 triumph over the Oceanside Pirates and will play Wednesday evening at home at 7 pm versus Bishop’s (17-10), ranked No. 2 In SDSCIF Division 2.
As the first quarter of play came and went, the score was 18-17, Patriots, which would set the tone for the remainder of this exciting quarterfinal.
The second quarter was more of the same, 22-21, as the Pirates won the second quarter of play.

Talk about an impressive way to exit the floor and into the locker room.
More of the same offense and defense showed up on behalf of both squads, and there was also an incredible amount of ridiculous fouls called against the Patriots, not to mention the handful of traveling calls, that were very clear against Oceanside.
“Coach (DAVION FAMBER) just briefed us at halftime, stated that we are capable of beating the Pirates and to not let the officials dictate the results of the game, just play hard,” said JORDAN GAINES of the Patriots.

The scoring was close all evening along with some great blocks and steals on behalf of both teams. A true playoff game with seats filled to capacity and roaring throughout the contest.
Not only were the Christian High Lady Patriots on hand to support the boys squad, they were screaming as so many spectacular plays were made tossing in a few points and also the defense cranking it up a notch.
“We feed off of our home crowd, we have the best home crowd out there to support us,” Gaines said.

The Lady Patriots even gave their own version of a halftime show, scrimmaging amongst themselves, and it was quite entertaining.
In a perfect playoff game, the score was close, the game was physical, full of fantastic shots, blocks, steals, you name it, if you weren’t at the Christian High boys quarterfinal this evening, you missed an eventful SDSCIF Division 2 matchup that will be one for the history books.
