EL CAJON – The Foothills Christian Knights wrapped up their 10th-straight league title on Wednesday night by defeating visiting La Jolla Country Day, 65-58, at Cuyamaca College.
The Torreys were the only challenger left for the county top-ranked Knights to dismiss to complete the championship.
La Jolla Country Day, which took FCHS to overtime last month, got off to a great start, taking a 12-2 lead on the hosts.
Senior TAESHON CHERRY scored 17 points for the Knights, while sophomore teammate YASSINE GHARRAM added 14 points, as the Knights won their 15th-straight game and improved to 11-0 in the Ocean League.
Juniors D.J. CARTER-HOLLINGER and JAREN NAFARETTE both scored 13 points for FCHS.
Foothills Christian improved to 24-5 overall.
It was head coach BRAD LEAF’s 297th win at FCHS.
Foothills Christian travels to meet Francis Parker on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the regular season finale.
Foothills will most likely be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming San Diego CIF Open Division playoffs.
