GROSSMONT 1, EL CAJON VALLEY 1 – The Foothillers and the Braves battled to a draw in La Mesa and Grossmont remained very much alive in the Grossmont Hills League championship chase with a late goal.
The Braves scored three minutes into the second half for the game’s first goal, but Grossmont freshman MARCUS AUSTIN scored the equalizer with just three minutes left in the game on an assist from senior MATT PEARSON.
Grossmont is now 4-1-3 in Hills League play.
The Braves earned their fifth league draw of the campaign and ninth tie overall this season.
WEST HILLS 4, STEELE CANYON 1 – The Wolf Pack broke open a 1-all game at halftime, scoring three goals in the second half to pick up their third league win.
The Cougars scored first, putting in a goal in the game’s eighth minute.
West Hills tied the game at the 20-minute mark.
The Wolf Pack took the lead seven minutes into the second half.
West Hills scored again 10 minutes later and added the fourth score with 12 minutes left in the game.
VALHALLA 5, EL CAPITAN 1 – The Norsemen remained atop the Grossmont Valley League table with the road win.
Valhalla (12-2-6) improved to 4-0-2 in league play.
MOUNTAIN EMPIRE 11, SAN DIEGO ACADEMY 2 – Senior RICHARD ZUNIGA scored five goals and junior DAVID PEREZ CORONA had three goals and three assists.
The Red Hawks improved to 4-2-1 in league play.
