EL CAJON – The Santana Sultans moved into second place in the Grossmont Valley League with a win over host El Cajon Valley, 70-52, on Tuesday evening.
The Sultans improved to 3-2 on the league season and 15-10 overall, a half-game ahead of third-place Monte Vista. Santana is the only team left that can challenge for at least a share of the GVL title.
The Sultans had a well-balanced scoring attack from the starters.
Santana senior NICK BERHALTER had 14 points as did fellow senior T.C. SIMMONS
Sultan senior ANDREW HITCHCOCK had 13 points and junior teammate BRANDON SIMMONS added 11 points.
El Cajon Valley got 15 points from senior BILAND AL-ISSA and 10 points from senior NICK HENDERSON.Nick
Senior REY-EL HILL had nine points for the Braves.
Santana will face win-starved El Capitan in Lakeside on Friday in the next GVL game at 7 p.m.
The Braves will host 10th-ranked Mount Miguel on Friday, also at 7.
