HELIX 5, STEELE CANYON 5 – A wild game ended in a draw after Helix came up with a late score on the road.
The Cougars scored first nine minutes into the contest, but Helix tied it up five minutes later.
Steele Canyon then surged to a 3-1 first-half lead with goals in the 30th and 38th minute.
Helix (7-6-3, 2-0-2 Grossmont Hills League), which is in first place in the Grossmont Hills League, answered in the final minute of the first half.
Six minutes into the second half, Steele Canyon (1-8-4, 0-2-2) once again went up by two scores.
Helix scored in the 52nd minute to pull to within 4-3.
The Highlanders then tied the game in the 65th minute, but three minutes later, the Cougars took a 5-4 lead.
Helix tied the game in the final minute.
Helix hosts Grossmont next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Steele Canyon will be on the road at El Cajon Valley starting at 4:30 p.m.
GROSSMONT 2, GRANITE HILLS 1 – Grossmont senior RYAN ORTIZ scored both goals as Grossmont improved to 2-1-1 in the Grossmont Hills League.
Senior MATT PEARSON had assisted on one of the goals.
Senior DEAN SCHWARTZ won again in goal.
Grossmont improved to 7-4-4 overall.
VALHALLA 2, MONTE VISTA 2 – In a game that matched teams with five draws already this season, Valhalla and Monte Vista fittingly ended in a tie.
The Monarchs led 2-1 at halftime, but the Norsemen picked up the equalizer in the second half.
Monte Vista (8-2-6) moved to 2-1-1 in the Grossmont Valley League, while Valhalla (7-1-6) is now 1-0-2.
Valhalla will host Mount Miguel next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
EL CAPITAN 2, MOUNT MIGUEL 0 – El Capitan scored a goal in each half for its first Grossmont Valley League win of the season.
El Capitan (8-8-1, 1-2 GVL) will host Santana (10-4-5, 2-0-1 GVL) next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
EL CAJON VALLEY 1, WEST HILLS 1 – West Hills moved to 2-1-1 in the Grossmont Valley League, while El Cajon Valley is now 0-1-3 in league.
West Hills will travel to face Granite Hills next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
FOOTHILLS CHRISTIAN 3, CALVIN CHRISTIAN 0 – Junior LUKE HUNTER and sophomores JOE THOMAS and JEREMY MAYER scored for the Knights.
Sophomore KEVIN HELFERS had five saves to earn the shutout.
The Knights are in first place with a 2-0 record in the Ocean League to start.
LIBERTY CHARTER 4, HIGH TECH NORTH COUNTY 1 – Liberty Charter picked up its first Frontier-Victory League victory of the season.
