EL CAJON – The Christian Patriots scored two goals in each half on Wednesday to defeat the Kearny Komets in a Central League game and improved to 2-0-1 on the young league season.
Christian (12-4) scored in the seventh minute to take the early 1-nil lead.
The Patriots made it 2-0 28 minutes later.
Ten minutes into the second half, Christian scored its third goal for a 3-0 advantage.
Kearny (1-11-2, 0-2-1) scored 29 minutes into the second half.
The Pats rounded out the scoring 32 minutes into the second half.
Christian travels to face Morse (1-10-4, 1-0-2 Central) on Friday.
Tuesday’s games
VALHALLA 2, EL CAPITAN 1 – Senior AHMED JAWAD had the decisive goal and junior JULIUS KATTOULA scored for the Norsemen, as junior CARTER BOUCEK assisted on both scores.
Valhalla (7-1-5, 1-0-1 Grossmont Valley League) started off with many opportunities in front of the Vaquero goal that just could not find the net.
Junior Julius Kattoula started the scoring in the second half with a strong hit from the 20-yard line to the top corner of the goal. Vaqueros tied up the game with 10 minutes left.
With two minutes left in the game, Boucek sent a corner kick which connected with Jawad for his first goal of the season.
Valhalla’s next game is at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Monte Vista.
WEST HILLS 1, STEELE CANYON 0 – West Hills scored in the second half and improved to 2-1 in the Grossmont Valley League.
HELIX 4, GRANITE HILLS 1 – Helix won to move to the top of the Grossmont Hills table with a 2-0-1 mark.
The score was tied 1-all at halftime.
GROSSMONT 1, EL CAJON VALLEY 0 – MICHAEL SALLO scored on an assist from DEVIN ANDERS and Foothiller goaltending star DEAN SCHWARTZ finished with seven saves.
