LA JOLLA – The county third-ranked Foothills Christian Knights needed overtime to outlast the eighth-ranked La Jolla Country Day Torres, 69-65, Friday night in a league contest.
The Knights stayed cool and calm against the professed giant-killers La Jolla Country Day, which has wins over Mission Bay and St. Augustine, among others.
DERRICK CARTER-HOLLINGER had 19 points for Foothills Christian, including a dunk down the lane in the first half.

Later in the first half, Carter-Hollinger had a rejection, which YASSINE GHARRAM grabbed off the backboard carom, then he threw an outlet pass to senior TAESHON CHERRY, who threw down an emphatic dunk.
Foothills Christian led 41-33 at intermission, but held a slim 50-49 lead after three quarters.
Cherry finished with 18 points.
Senior guard JAREN NAFARRETE had 16 points for the Knights.
Gharram finished with 11 points.
La Jolla Country Day got 30 points from star Ryan Langbord and 14 points from teammate Jayson Taylor.
Foothills Christian (16-5) improved to 5-0 in the Coastal League, while LJCD is now 2-2 in league.
The Knights go up against No. 1-ranked Mission Bay tonight at 7:30 in the Battle at The Bay.
The game is the 7:30 evening feature of the one-day event matching teams from the Western League at the Coastal League.
