SANTANA 4, RAMONA 2
The Santana Sultans looked to get things going in the New Year as they traveled up the road to Ramona to take on the Bulldogs in a non-league contest and also a crucial contest between two Division III teams.
Santana came into the contest ranked 12th in the division while Ramona came into the contest ranked 15th.
Both teams in the first half went back and forth and both squads were able to put up points but it would be the Sultans who took advantage and came away with the lead at the break 2-1.
More of the same in the second half for both squads but the Sultans again would take advantage of their opportunities and put the contest away with a couple goals in the second half to double up the Bulldogs.
Leading the way for the Sultans was Sophomore Lane Dukes who found the back of the net twice for his 7th and 8th goals on the season. Also scoring for Santana was Junior Omar Nuristoni who scored his 14th of the season and had an assist. Finishing things off in the scoring category for the Sultans was Sophomore Nathan Hughes who netted his first of the season and he contributed an assist as well. Other contributors were Junior Saul Lopez and Sophomore Kurtis Ours who also had assists.
Goal keeping wise Senior Tim Caravero made 15 saves to help preserve the victory.
With the victory the Sultans are now 7-4-3 and will next play at home on January 10th against the Morse Tigers.
