SO CAL HIGH SCHOOL CLASSIC
YORBA LINDA 4, SANTANA 3 (OT)
Santana who looked to reach the finals of a tournament for the first time this year unfortunately were nipped in bonus play Thursday night.
The Mustangs who traveled down from the O.C. had tied their previous two contests while the Sultans tied and won their previous contest. So the contest between the two teams was up for grabs with a ticket to the finals on the line.
Both teams really went at it but it would be the Mustangs who would take advantage of a couple opportunities while the Sultans got one back to trail 2-1 at intermission.
In the second half the scoring would flip flop as the Mustangs pushed one in while the Sultans scored twice to make it 3-3 which would stand at the end of the contest sending it into overtime.
In the overtime period both teams went back and forth but it would be Yorba Linda who would take advantage of an opportunity to score what would be the game winning goal.
For Santana on the night, Omar Nuristani would score along with Colton Snipes and Ben Sampson while Lane Dukes would assist on two of the goals.
