LA MESA (12-1- 17) – The Helix Lady Highlanders were expecting a tough opponent, but not a tidal wave.
The Lady Scotties have to be proud that they stayed positive and continued to play hard.
Helix was on the losing end to Bonita Vista, one of the top ranked teams in the county, 83-42.
Let us also keep in mind that the Scotties were led by astonishing new freshman SAMONAH BETTS, who had 16 points, and 6 rebounds, not to mention the 17 points in tonight’s loss by KHALIA KING, DIAMOND WHITLEY, and CHARITY MCWASHINGTON
McWashington led the team in rebounding and steals.
“Taking this all as a good learning experience as we are preparing to play many powerhouse Division one schools,” said Helix head coach FREDDIE GARRETT.
Coach GARRETT mentioned also that they will compete.
After swallowing the tough loss to Serra High, this contest was expected to be no easy feat.
However, this squad resembles a top tier, typical, resilient Helix team.
The Lady Scotties are now 0-2 and will face Mira Mesa on December 6th at 7 pm at Mira Mesa.
Mira Mesa (1-0) is at Bishop’s at 5:30 today, which is definitely a winnable game.
PATRICK HENRY 46, GRANITE HILLS 39 – The Eagles traveled to Henry to take on the Patriots in their first matchup of the season.
Saturday, the Eagles will face Imperial High on the road at 3 p.m.
