SPRING VALLEY (11- 27-2017) – When you have a leader like Mount Miguel girls basketball head coach ROBBIE SANDOVAL, a winning season is almost a guarantee.
Anyone who has met coach Sandoval, whether it be as a reporter, player, or even an opponent knows he is a competitor.
Off the court, Sandoval is pure heart for the kids, in particular, within his community.
As a matter of fact, his next opponent will be against a tough Brawley team on Tuesday afternoon (12:40).
Along with the team continuing to play in the Matador Classic Tournament, coach Sandoval is also inviting 200 students from Lemon Grove Academy, which happens to be located right behind Mount Miguel High School.
This is a free game courtesy of Mount Miguel for the 5th and 6th graders that attend Lemon Grove Academy.
On Monday night, in the 1st game of the Matador Classic, the Lady Matadors were able to edge the Cathedral Dons, 67-63.
The first quarter of play was very competitive as the score at the end of the first quarter of play was 17-16 in favor of Cathedral.
Mount Miguel was not gonna have that at their own invitational as the Matadors pulled ahead, leading at the half 34-30.
The Matadors and Dons went back and forth with the Matadors ultimately finishing the Dons.
