LINCOLN 20, CHRISTIAN 7
EastCountySports.com staff report
EL CAJON – The Lincoln Hornets limited the Christian Patriots’ big-strike ability, then got a BRAD JEREMIAH-like performance from their star quarterback Asante Hartzog in a 20-7 Eastern League championship-impacting win at Granite Hills High Friday night.
Hartzog completed 20-of-27 passes on the evening for 251 yards and running back KENYON SIMS rushed for a pair of scores as the ninth-ranked Hornets led 14-0 at halftime and 20-0 after three quarters.
Lincoln (7-1, 3-0) limited the Patriots to just 162 yards through the air.
After Christian defeated the Hornets twice last season, once in the regular season at Player Stadium, then again in the playoffs here at Valley Stadium, veteran-laden Lincoln was certainly ready to challenge their lower-ranked foe this time around.
The Hornets handled the Pats in virtually all aspects of the game in this one.

The Hornets also had a 27-yard TD run from Da’Jon Thomas to open the scoring.
Christian (6-2, 2-1) recovered a pair of fumbles in the first half and had two interceptions of Hartzog in the second half.
Jeremiah threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to BRYCE RIEPL in the fourth quarter.
The Patriots travel to Scripps Ranch next week.
