MOUNT MIGUEL 58, EL CAJON VALLEY 9

EastCountySports.com staff report

EL CAJON – Mount Miguel shook off a rough shutout last week by roughing up El Cajon Valley, 58-9, in a Grossmont Valley League game Friday night.

Mount Miguel senior SHEMAR GREENE scored on a touchdown run early in the first quarter en route to a five TD night against the Braves.

Minutes later, Greene scored again as quarterback ERIC GRAHAM shook off an El Cajon Valley rusher and flipped a shovel pass to his back.

DAMIONTE WAFER scored his first-ever touchdown at any level on a scoop and score fumble return on a punt late in the first quarter to make it 25-0 at the end of one.

Greene had a 62-yard TD on a pass by Graham.

Graham, playing in place of starter MUGABE MILLER, who was injured last week against Monte Vista, had a touchdown run.

Mount Miguel recorded two interceptions.

El Cajon Valley has a field goal near the end of the half and it was a thing of beauty considering the Braves haven’t been too active in their place-kicking game over the last few years.

El Cajon Valley held the Matadors to only one touchdown in the second half.

PATRICK CHIMA, a sophomore scored on a 58-yard lateral on a punt return down the right sideline.

El Cajon Valley scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter on rush by RONALD HULLUM.

Mount Miguel (3-5, 1-1) will host Granite Hills in a Valley contest next Friday, while El Cajon Valley (1-6, 0-1) faces Monte Vista.
